Blog 5: The Flame Bull

I was just having some fun with this one. I struggled making realistic goblin arm appendages, but I don’t think it turned out half bad. I originally thought of a situation where someone has just escaped from this thing in a chase scene, and is hiding behind a corner. Here is a simple illustration.

However, I eventually decided this beast would not be crawling out of the portal to hunt people, but a bird tooth. Unlike some of my drawings, which follow some simple evolutionary logic, (ie, a creature that primarily uses flight will have big flight muscles, or a deep cave slug will not have eyes, but rather long feelers,) this one has few rules other than look cool. I cheated the “it has to use some biological logic” thing by using the “from another dimension” trope, which is why it’s emerging from a portal. I really like the body and form of this guy. What do you think it is? What is that portal doing there? Let me know in the comments!

Draw on,

Afterthought: I sort of like the bulky arms of the quick demonstration sketch better than the final sketch. Maybe I could do something with that…

Afterthought 2: Biological Logic is fun to say. Biologically Logical. Biologicalogic.
