NOTE: THIS POST MAY BE MILDLY DISTURBING FOR THOSE WHO ARE SENSITIVE TO ANY SORT OF HORROR.
This is a drawing that I made a couple weeks ago, but I was afraid of showing it off after someone mistook the statue for a spirit possessed human. Yikes. If you dislike mild body horror, then I suggest you leave. This isn’t Junji Ito stuff, but might still be enough to spook some people.

I imagine this drawing as part of a video game cutscene. The concept behind this one is that it was originally a statue belonging to an unknown ancient civilization. The nasty demon- things that have been following your protagonist throughout the game lurk around the palace that houses these spirits, so you have made your way through to destroy the boss, the one that’s been generating more creatures. As you travel along, you reach the great throne room, with ancient, broken statues lining the walls, and look up to see a silent chair. Suddenly, a crushing crack is heard as one of the statue’s heads breaks off, then slowly rises as the demon emerges. To make up for the statues missing arm and shoulders, the creature grows parts of its own, which crackle and crunch in small spasms as they are made,. Then, the creature begins the attack.
In this drawing, I really tried to focus on contrast between the statue and the demon, and I think it worked out okay. Even though the demon is trying to copy the body of the statue, it is coming out all wrong and twisted. The statue is full of bold, saturated blues and oranges. The demon has milky scarlet flesh punctuated with red magic and black bones. The statue has a rotund body, but sharp designs. The demon is full of spirals and spheres, but its bones are jagged and straight. The statue has simple, uniform, even shapes. The demon has awkward bulges for muscle, uneven spirals as shoulders, and a mess of bones as fingers. The statue is twelve feet tall. The little demon poking out is only three feet, two of which are just his bulbous cranium.
I look back at this drawing, and there are so many ways it could be better, but I still like it.
let me know if you want more mildly perturbing stuff like this. Who knows- I might even listen.
Draw on,
